Do the Republican Math?

by Gordon Smith

Only In America . Thoughts On The Moment

On Good Morning America this morning they interviewed Republican Eric Cantor. The discussion was Obama’s speech last night on health care. During the interview Cantor said, “90% of all Americans have health insurance.”

With all due respect sir, where did you learn math? The widely used figure for the uninsured is 47 million. If 90% of the country has coverage then that means there are 470 million people in the USA. But according to the US Census Bureau (http://www.census.gov/population/www/popclockus.html) we’re at a shade over 300 million. Cantor, you’re an idiot.

While we’re on the subject, there seems to be some sort of debate on whether the illegals should be covered or not. I don’t have an answer right now but I will say that if they get treatment then that treatment has to be paid for in some way. In other words, just because they’re not covered doesn’t mean they won’t need treatment. The cost of their treatment will just be spread across the rest of the system. So before you decide, do the math. Just don’t use fxxckin’ Cantor’s version. And fxxck wads like that are running the country? No wonder we’re lost.
